Tell us about yourself and the story of Lust List.
My name is Katerina Crocker, I'm 29 years old and I live in the south west of Sydney. I married my best friend Ryan in 2014. We have been together for over 10 years we have two beautiful girls Ella & Remi. Becoming a mum was the most rewarding but challenging job I've ever had. I grew up in the hospitality industry with my parents owning many successful restaurants in our local area. That's where my passion for food comes from. I worked in retail for over 6 years for two huge retailers: I still have a lot of love for the fashion industry. My husband and I also ran our successful Carpentry and Maintenance business for 6 yeas. I started my Instagram page @lustlist_ in 2015 posting photos of things I loved and lusted over. As time went on people were more interested about me and the girl behind the phone rather than dreamy photos on Pinterest. As I grew as a person so did my following, I started posting about my life and all the milestones and highs and lows, when I fell pregnant a lot of my followers didn't have children yet and I'm sure they didn't want me posting bump pictures all the time. That's when I started my Instagram page @littlelustlist (aka baby blog) I've been very lucky to collaborate with some amazing companies and local business such as Coles, Westfield, In Macarthur Magazine 2017 / 2019, Escarla Hair, Clementine Posy Style Ambassador since 2017 - current, Clementine Christmas photoshoot at home 2018, Clementine Posy Mother's day campaign 2018 / 2020, KOH , Rockmelon XO, Harper and co designs, August Lane, Saint Lumi, Miss Patties Clever Kids. I can’t wait to share more about my life the fashion, food, Mum life and everything in between.
Any advice for anyone out there thinking of starting a blog, business or a brand?
My advice would be decide what you want to post about and stick with it, people will follow because they like what you’re doing and posting. Post what you want to post. Don’t worry about what other people are posting about. I don’t have 10k + followers but I have a very high engagement level and have had some amazing opportunities through social media that I’m very thankful for. I think it’s a great outlet to be creative and connect with like-minded people.
Where do you find your inspiration?
Pinterest and Instagram!
The hardest part of starting out and how you overcame any challenges/stay motivated?
Don’t just post a photo to 'post a photo' because you haven’t posted in a few days. Work out what your goal is, 1-3 post a week and stick with it - keep it consistent. Look at your audience (days and times to post to get the most engagement). Don’t stress and worry about the number of likes and followers you have. Your account will always look better with real followers and engagement than someone who has a large following and no interaction.
Tell us about your AM routine eg skin products, routines and rituals?
AM routine: foam cleanser , SPF tinted moisturizer. .
And now your PM routine?
PM routine: face scrub, foam cleanser, face oil, jade roller (obsessed) I like to do a face mask once a week. I also use my face razor once a week.
Three skin care, beauty or wellness items you couldn't bear to live without?
I can’t live without my Face Shaver and lip balm from MCoBeauty, Face Oil from Go-To Skincare and my Jade Roller from Saint Lumi.
What does self-love/self-care mean to you? Is it an important part of your day or something that may fall by the wayside?
Mum life - I don’t spend much time on myself but my self care is using my face oil and roller every night before bed for a few minutes. It makes me feel like a million dollars. Or something simple like catching up with a friend for lunch and having some girl time. Self-care is definitely something I’m trying to work harder on; it’s hard to juggle. I think a lot of Mums struggle to find time for themselves between working, looking after kids and keeping the house hold together.
